My kid will ONLY go to sleep with me by nursing (he's 21 hotnms) but at daycare he just lies down and goes to sleep because that's what all the kids do. He's in a room with 2 caregivers and seven other toddlers. When his little group moved up to the toddler room, if they needed assistance, one of the office ladies would come help. I think my using extra adults during the transition time, the kids were able to learn the system and got into their routine. If you were just one caregiver for several toddlers, without another adult to help, I think that must have been very hard. I like my daycare because they don't push the kids- if one of them needed to be held while he slept, they would do that until the kid adjusted. I loved that gentle approach. Of course, their staffing allowed it, so I am lucky. (Actually, not lucky- it's one of the reasons I chose that daycare.)Fancy Pancakes s last [type] ..[]Melodie Reply:January 2nd, 2011 at 4:23 pmThat is so wonderful that you found such an amazing sounding daycare. I would have loved to have had that extra pair of hands at nap time. In my experience it can be very hard to find a child care setting that allows for tending to each child's individual needs, sometimes even when they have extra staffing, so you have a nice gem there. That must be such a relief knowing that when you go to work.[]
